THE RED MONKEY STORY VISUAL
We live in an age (3D-Age) where two chaotic currents come together. One is the huge increase in disruptive innovation due to information luxury and the other is the increasing loss of worldly certainties due to unsustainable innovation in the past.
In todays period of disruptive transition (Switch-3D), we have to built organizations that can bring out the best in people (3D-Smarts). Welcome to the world of passion and talent. Welcome to the world of ‘Engines of Innovation’.
“The mission of ‘The Red Monkey Story' is to awaken people into a new mindset for learning, working & innovation (The Engine of Innovation Mindset) that embeds agility & disruption into Organizational Cultures (Red Monkey Innovation Management).”
Warning: Awakening is the most difficult step in learning!
It’s having the courage to break your own paradigms and start real learning.
It’s up to you whether you hit snooze or start learning something new. There are no shortcuts when it comes to real learning. Not all will agree with the story and the consequences ... and that’s normal.
Key Words
To better understand our mission and portfolio we would like to introduce you to some new words. It’s already part of the awakening.
2D-Age / 3D-Age / Switch-3D
‘2D’ stands for ‘2-Dimensional’. It envisions the world we are leaving. Look at it as a flat ocean with not a lot of movement. You can see for miles and are able to predict what is going to happen. The same is for learning & working . We went to work with a degree in organizations that were able to make long term predictions. It gave us a secure income with a pension as reward.
‘3D’ stands for ‘3-Dimensional’. It envisions the world we are living in now. Look at it as an stormy ocean. It is not flat anymore. Unpredictable waves are adding a third dimension. The enormous increase of information boosts the ability to learn and powers disruptive innovation. Nothing is secure anymore. Organizations can’t predict the future and again and again we have to keep learning to stay valuable. The impact on how we have to learn and work is dramatic. The impact on how organizations have to reengineer their organizational culture is even more dramatic.
The mission of ‘The Red Monkey Story’ is to make you aware of the disruptive impact of switching from 2D to 3D on learning, working and innovation. What is happening? What are the consequences? Why is it so difficult'? Why do we need heroes?
2D-Smarts / 3D-Smarts
In the 2D-Age, 2D-Smarts were very valuable. They used their discipline and intelligence to learn for a degree and work in a function description (2D-Smarting). In an age of information shortage that was the ‘only’ way to become valuable. We lived a predictable live.
In this 3D-Age, we need to become 3D-Smarts. To stay valuable in this ever changing world we have to learn and work in the groove with our strengths. We have to find passion for our talents (3D-Smarting). Only if this happens and keeps happening, we will be able to become and stay valuable@work!
The mission of ‘The Red Monkey Story’ is to make you aware of the impact of 3D-Smarting on Education, Work and your ‘Live’. How do you become and recognize 3D-Smarts? What is the disruptive impact on Management Style? How do you recognize and develop managers able to work with 3D-Smarts'? What is the impact on Human Resources Management? Why is HRM part of the problem? What is the impact on Executive Style?
Red Monkey / Red Monkey Innovation Management
The crux of the story is ‘Red Monkey Innovation Management’, which focuses on creating a really, disruptive innovative organization.
The mission of ‘The Red Monkey Story’ is to make you aware of the impact of ‘Red Monkey Innovation Management’ on your organizational culture. What ideas should you protect? How do you get the right disruptive ideas (Red Monkeys) that will shake the balance of your organization?. Where and how should you invest? How do you incubate new ideas and bring them quickly into operation? What is the impact on the casting process of managers? Why are the competences of the CEO and the Executive Team vital in the creation of an agile, organic and disruptive innovation flow? How do you recognize and develop the right executives?
The Engine of Innovation Mindset
The ultimate goal of ‘The Red Monkey Story’ is the introduction of a new ‘Operating System’ for organizations: The Engine of Innovation (EOI) Mindset. It serves as a new organizational development language to talk about, introduce and deploy an organic culture transformation process. In Jef’s books and keynotes, he already uses various insights of the EOI Mindset, but ‘The Red Monkey Story’ gives you an holistic introduction to the language, the concepts and a toolkit to make it happen. It will change your insights about organizational development forever!
